A lot of things may be automated these days. But at the Sheep Barn, it still takes a human being to shear a sheep. It also takes determination, strength and quickness. Contestants shear four sheep each. They're judged on the time it takes them , the quality of the shearing, the condition of the fleece, and how they handle the animals during the shearing.

i have to agree i have 6 sheep (that are not sold) and when we shear them we dont hold them up or nick them.... thats very mean for them to do that.... you should have the sheep standing up when you sheer and be careful not to nick them

Sheep love to be sheared! It is good for their health. Wool is a great natural product that keeps you warm and dry-unlike acrylic.
