from what I know, this was Martha Raye's first appearence on movies. Great version, I really enjoy LOUIS PRIMA with his trumpet being all modest just a sideman... There is so many versions of this tune, one that reaches the same "Veaudeville" jazzy atmospere is the version by Sophie Tucker, recorded with the Harry Roy Orchestra in London, in 1937.
Just a read a bio of Sam Coslow, so have been taking a youtube journey of his songs. This was written specifically for Martha Raye by Sam Coslow for her screen test with Paramount Studios for "Rhythum On The Range" with Bing Crosby. The test won Martha the comdey lead in Bing's movie and the studio officials were so impressed by the "Paganini" test that they decided to make it her featured solo in the picture. It's been her theme numer ever since.
LOVE THIS. She's awesome!

I've been looking for film footage of Bob "Bazooka" Burns, and here he is, along with Martha Raye and Louis Prima. Thanx a bunch.
