I have rewritten the lyrics to this SOP song. Please take the time to listen and think about it.

The music and singing were recorded in my "home studio" so is a bit poor quality. Please rate or comment if possible. Thanks

  • At first, I thought you had a point - after all, one can't go wrong to insist on Biblical integrity even in worship songs. But after re-listening to the original song, I felt that this change in lyrics was possibly ill-conceived, a little tongue-in-cheek, and misses on the original intent of the song.

Considering that the song was to challenge someone despondent, then the original lyrics make sense. Can Jesus not correct someone's past? Paul the persecuter became the great apostle!

  • @u2befan1 Did God actually change Paul's past? Or gave him a new future? But anyway, you are right in saying it was a bit tongue-in-cheek. I was just fed up some some "Christian" songs that had little or nothing to do with Christ or the Bible. 最珍贵的角落,运上太阳, etc. I thought the best way of communicating that with Christian song listeners and writers was to change one of their favorites.

  • @u2befan1 But whatever it is, my main objective is to incite people to THINK. If you truly ponder on the lyrics of a song, whether it is the original or my edited version. If it makes sense to you, then the song becomes meaningful. The danger of songs nowadays is we can sing it with emotion, but without understanding. I am sure God rather we speak a word in truth, rather than sing a thousand without understanding. We think before we speak, but seldom before we sing! :P

  • I really love these new lyrics. You are right to the point. The sound quality is't that bad, if it can be a little louder, it would be even better. You should compose your own songs, God has given you talents and insights. Glory to God =D

  • @jessicalee310 Thanks Jessica. Not everyone appreciates it and I understand. Many people are very superficial nowadays and only want song that are "nice". If only they understood the Bible better. I have written my own songs, I think I have a couple of them in my channel. You may have heard 1 or 2 of my songs if you buy a lot of Christian song CDs. :)

  • Thank you for your change. I'm not saying the old one is bad, and i don't want to make any judgment to the brother or sister's feeling at the point of compose. But i really like the way how you change the lyrics, it makes me think a lot!

  • @cheungupdt I am glad it has helped you think. That's my only purpose of doing so. What is more important? The Word of God or human feelings? If we are "praising God" with words that are not in accordance to His, what's the point?

  • Amen Amen. Thank God!

not ''totally changed'' my attitude, but ''changed''

After all,i really appreciate your effort and the faith in God!!

  • Read MAtthew 22 about the kingdom of heaven is like. A king prepared a wedding dinner for his son =)

even as christians, ministers , pastors, or even 'watchman' ..We need to check our garments...as it is written in Matthew 7:21 "Not everyone who says to me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven.

  • wow what i can say is that this lyrics is more in depth n definitely not man -pleasing...yet GOD PLEASING... ( which is EXACTLY WHAT EVERY CHRISTIAN SHOULD BE)

thanks bro, Jesus is coming back v.v. soon, we should be watchful!!! Matthew 22 "The king came in to see the guests. He noticed a man there who was not wearing wedding clothes.... "Then the king told his servants, 'Tie up his hands and feet. Throw him outside into the darkness. Out there people will sob and grind their teeth.'

  • No hymn is perfect, as they are all written by imperfect human beings. It is sometimes easy to criticize a song or its lyrics because it may not present all aspects of who God is or contain the deeper meanings of the Gospel. But what hymn does? The original song and its lyrics addresses a friend who doesn't know Christ and is in spiritual needs. In a gentle way, the song tells this person, that there is something greater, a kind of love that transforms lives, in the person of Jesus who loves us.

  • Thanks for the song. As a christian who has been through a lot and seeing many less fortunate people suffering, I have to say it is difficult to believe that God loves each one of us although it is easy to accept that God loves the world. Your song really touched me and reminded me that he is the potter and we are the clay. God wants to make us strong so that we can take up the cross and follow him. Praise the Lord!

  • @nikemax22 I honestly don't recall anywhere that says the sun stands for God. Are we getting confused here with Baal? lol.

Also, changing the old you does not equal changing your past.

  • @chriskmwong You just answered your own question. You "stopped" taking drugs, and this is forward-looking. Your past will not be erased, but God forgave you and wants you to rely on him at all times to walk on the right path in future. No, your past has not changed, but your future is a lot brighter since your change in direction.

  • @limsc79 I completely agree with you and I think there's a pattern in today's worship songs whether English or Chinese is that more focus is paying to generating a catchy tune instead of offering meaningful lyrics. I truly hope the writer of the song isn't someone who simply has a talent in composing the music, but is rather someone who is touched by God to bring us meaningful messages. Too many songs nowadays draw people with melody without any regard to the purpose of worship.

  • I was a drug addict. After seeing a vision during a prayer, I've totally stopped taking drugs, thanks to our almighty god! Doesn't this big change which even my family members couldn't believed, is the work of god to change our past?
