dominicangator, I think that's the point. The movie takes place during a time of extreme racism, and this shows many of the repercussions. Prejudice is the root of the hatred that the jets and the sharks have for one another. I'm not Latino, so I can't say that this portrayed them well, but I do think that the whole plot is based on the hatred from the racism.

This movie is extremely racist! I hate the portrayals of Latinos. A lot of catchy tunes, but there is no single authentic representation of Latinos.

The first line is " There's a place for us, somewhere a place for us". Stacey sang, " There's a time for us, somewhere a place for us". I know it's only one word but it does make a big difference.
