The National Flight Nurse Academy, founded as a partnership between Case Western Reserve University's Frances Payne Bolton School of Nursing, Cleveland Clinic, and the Cleveland MetroHealth System, prepares acute care nurse practitioners to practice in unstructured environments, conducts interdisciplinary disaster-response training during its annual summer camp, and conducts research to build the evidence base for practice in air medical services. • Hi medic. The program is for nurses with a BSN and at least one year of experience and is available as a sub-specialty to students pursuing a Master of Science in Nursing in Acute Care Nursing Practice. If you are not a nurse, we have a graduate entry program that prepares you for licensure and to pursue this (or other) master's degrees in nursing.

  • @fpbnursing I am finishing my MSN ACNP-BC with the state of TN, would your program allow me to declare a sub-specialty in flight nursing having completed my MSN ACNP?

  • I was specifically talking about the 5 day boot camp they put on in August. We did have medics at that conference. Sorry if I was not clear.

  • I have looked into it twalsh and indeed it is only open to nurses. However, they do have the transition entry course for dual certification so I think that is probably the people you may be referring to. Again, quite the shame though as it looks like a fantastic program.

  • i completely disagree. Though this program is geared toward advanced practice R.N. it does not mean you cannot attend. I went to the "boot camp" in 2008 and we and we had a few paramedics in the class. There is still a lot you could learn. I hope they have not closed it off to only R.N."s, and If it is only opinion from fpbnurisng that's a shame!

  • Is this only open to nurses or also to paramedics?
