King Tut's famous gold funeral mask has captured the imagination of generations. But until recently, much of the pharaoh's brief life was shrouded in more legend than fact. Dr. Carsten Pusch, a geneticist at Germany's Tuebingen University, spent two years examining DNA taken from King Tut's mummy. Analysis found a young man plagued by illness and physical malformations that needed canes to walk -- a very different picture than the kind of boy on a chariot.
In this interview recorded at the 21st ISHI, Dr. Carsten Pusch shares the excitement of unlocking secrets from DNA more than 3,000 years old.
So is there a conclusion yet, or is the jury still out?
