I learned this song from Planxty's "The well bellow the vally" album. It is the version that Christy Moore sung. One of the many versions that tells the same story. A maiden is (more or less) seduced by an older man and left to suffer after he got what he wanted. A similar story can be found in Bothy band's "16 comes sunday"
