As a Paralegal, you work under the directory of a lawyer, performing a variety of tasks, such as drafting legal documents and interacting with clients, as well as helping lawyers prepare for closings, hearings, trials, and corporate meetings. Other tasks can include using the law library and the Internet to investigate facts or identify appropriate laws, judicial decisions, legal articles, and other materials that are relevant to assigned cases.
You will find that your ABA-approved training at Baker College is unique, specialized, and hands-on. You study many different areas of the law, ranging from criminal law to wills and trusts. You also learn how to conduct in-depth research, interview witnesses, prepare memoranda, and draft legal documents to assist attorneys in their casework. That broad base of knowledge, combined with opportunities for practical work experience through an internship, gives you excellent preparation for entering the paralegal field.
