  • Cool camera movement and effects. Whats up with re-using preset assets from unreal in your cambodian scene? Only use you original work...

  • Thank you for sharing this with us :). Now I know what not to do and how to do it when making reel for game industry :D.

    Thanks again.

  • @ncshuriken If problems with CryEngine ever come up just search for support. IRC, forums, email, there's always a chance someone has encountered the same problem and can help you fix it. And even better, you could try joining/creating a team. The community is still fresh.

  • @ncshuriken yes but this "overhaul" is still impractical and time consuming. And 99% AAA UE3 games look and feel the same because the companies paid Epic games to help out on the project. No wonder they felt the same.

Cryengine hasn't been good at the beginning. At the beginning it resembled more Trackmania or Quake rather. Believe me I saw it. When they started making FarCry, it was something else though. In terms of "SDK", or whatever you think an SDK is, it gives much more then UDK.

  • @MenkoDany

Cryengine has always been good, as relatively new as it is. When Farcry came out in 04, nobody had ever seen anything like it, then the same thing happened again with Crysis. In terms of the "SDK" though, I've heard it fails to live up to expectations. Again, Ive never used it myself, but a lot of people are saying things like "Once you want to do anything other than make maps, your fucked" or even "Its the most buggy SDK ever released", which all sounds a bit harsh.

  • @MenkoDany

Im sure youve formed your opinion after actually having used the SDK yourself for a time, not just hear-say or your own speculative theories, but theres plenty of projects out there that bare absolutely no resemblance to UE game mechanics. Check the community. If a licensed UE3 is supposed to be more versatile, then all AAA UE3 games shouldnt look & feel the same, but they do. Thats to a far lesser extent with UDK, many titles have completely overhauled the code.
