The only downside I can think of is running out of water when you're iced in.

hey there mykaskin. this has to be one of my most favorite canal videos here on youtube. this is amazing. when i lived in the UK i always wanted to get one of these boats, i suppose i'll have to find somebody in the USA that builds them HAHA. great video. 5 stars, 2 thumbs up and lots of nice smelling diesel burning. keep boating. i just subscribed. can't wait to watch more videos of yours.

@rightfredsdead From most others it seems like having to shout at passing boats to slow down. However finding you've run out of kindling, your coal buckets empty and the chemical toilet is full, and it's snowing outside, is just part of the daily fun!

@rightfredsdead I've been on boats all my life and have no problems with the many downsides of living on the boat. The "Canal World Discussion Forums" have many answers to the usual questions asked, and you can ask if you have a question thats not answered.
