  • Redemptions and coupons are 2 seperate things. Yes they both expire, but you PAID for that redemption.. You already gave upper deck your money for a SPECIFIC amount of cards. Coupons have expiration dates to get you in the door. Theres a big difference. Im with Bigphish! F UD.. Love you both!!!

  • @foxborosensation11 You already gave UD your money for a specific amount of cards "ON AVERAGE" by the way. And you knew full-well that there may be expired redemptions BEFORE you made your purchase. I do, however, agree that the coupon comparison was not a good comparison, but they are essentially the same. It's expired. They owe you NOTHING... not one darn thing. Jason was lucky that they even spoke with him at all. The very first phone call should've been "Sorry pal, it's expired"...

  • A little FYI from the old guy. Once upon a time if you saw a ad about an item on sale and you went to buy this item many times they have sold out. But, what they gave you was a "rain check". These did not expire. If that item never was restocked for various reasons then they would sell you an item equal to or better than the item you came for. I have not seen this practice in a long time but it was the way a "valued" customer was treated. I personally think that no customer is "valued' anymore.

  • The redemption is the issue, there should never be a redemption offered if the card is not produced. Basically your paying for a product that may or may not have the card issued. Knowing that the product say 07 sweet spot there are a lot of redemption cards I would stay away, but what if you take that gamble. Cards should never expire, period. It's the company's way of putting the unclaimed hits in different product in the future or as replacement cards.

  • I agree and see both sides. Redemptions suck, everyone can agree with that and I think we all understand why they exist. And yes, you do pay a lot of money for a product and it would suck to get a expired redemption but that is the risk you take in buying a product that is that old. I personally would never take that chance. And Alan you are right with the coupon analogy. You buy the paper but the coupons will expire. No its not as much as a box of cards but the principle is still the same.

  • I bought a box of 07 sweet spot football and got a amobi okoye rookie signature and it was a expired redemption..I still redeemed it and they still gave me the card..they were very understanding and I didn't expect to get the card

  • @snajuice I also understand where your comming from, no one likes them but in time they have to expire. If you bought a lottery ticket and they expire in a year you lose it or misplace it. A year later you find it scratch it off and you win a million bucks but its expired. Your shit out of luck you not gonna get it.

  • @hudsonfan15 But I guess the better idea (since that will NEVER happen) is for the company to own up to it's own operational inadequacies (their inability to produce products with 100% live content) and follow through on redemptions without any squabbling to the customer. The customer should always be right and UD has forgotten that over the years. I think that is the greater issue here: standing behind the product you produce and maintaining brand integrity. Lately they've had none!

  • @hudsonfan15 My point is it shouldn't be out there in the first place. You shouldn't be able to consume something that is expired for your own good, even if that means the manufacturer has to take it back from the re-sellers to do so. Just because you can't get physically ill from sports cards doesn't mean that the effects of consuming expired product can't be equally damaging psychologically.

  • @snajuice I understand that Scott, but here's an example of how that doesn't work in other industries: Pepsi makes soda that expires, WalMart sells it. Someone buys expired soda made by Pepsi from WalMart and gets sick. Who is to blame? In real life, both get sued. So using that logic, both the re-sellers and the manufacturer are equally responsible for maintaining the public consumption of their product. Why aren't manufacturer's of sports cards held to the same standard?

  • @kingofsteak hell ya thats a real legit card company lol

  • i wouldnt mind redemptions if they ment something like the good ole days, sp authentic baseball used to have redemptions for auto'ed balls, shoes, bats and even whole on field bases, or if they were for uncut sheets or entire parallel sets, i really dont want to wait up to and over two years for a sucky 3rd rounder who might have bombed out b4 I even get it....
