  • I must say from someone recently discovering this "world" that I am impressed...

  • @Iberian1980 I read Zak cleaned 265, seems believable I can't see him failing a front squat with a mere 272.5kg a lifter could develop imbalanced strength by excelling at hyperextensions and upright rows and missing leg work or even only squat cleans. Training emphasis does matter. All I ever read Bill March jerked was 425, but in training he strict pressed 410. He focused on one lift. Patera claimed a 600 clean, 95 pounds over his best jerk! Hmnnn...

  • @skirts365 I am not saying that a clean should exceed a FS but that it is possible. Typically most elite lifters will have a greater FS than their clean. The heavyweights more than the lighter weight classes. Often though they will stop even working on their squat because once it exceeds the clean by 10% or more it really becomes of little value. It is more important at that point to train the weakest link. Given Yuri's build I wouldn't be suprised to see him clean more than he front squats.

  • @Iberian1980 I get parts of your message; however, if you're contradicting that a FS off racks should exceed best clean, it seems unlikely to be true of many great lifters. For ex, Vanev at 77 kilos did a 207.5 cj, cleaned 212.5, but did a 245 FS off racks. I was no lifter but an upper body strength specialist (still rings, dips) when I did some lifting training my best FS off racks was 45 pounds over my best squat clean which I did from a "hang" position. Rigert FS 260 @ 90, barely clean 225

This is not true. The elastic properties in muscle allows for a greater force to be applied as there is a change in direction. This is why you will have a greater vetical jump if you squat down and quickly jump up vs if you simply try to jump from a static squat position. Additionally the spring in the bar also allows for the lifter to stand up by timing his stance with the oscillation of the bar.

My best clean exceeds my best FS.

  • @prsguitars92 this man is a super athlete. Plain and simple. Impressive.

  • Superb try.

  • @tlast2012dude lol in kgs...

  • You read it or you SAW it---which? Not likely you saw it. Reading lacks info safeguards. A med student might know a bit of physiology & not blindly accept conflicting #'s. Kilo possibility is more in slower movements (squat) vs fast (cleans). Not believable that he could clean 15kg over best FS. Vanev at 77 FS 245 substantially more than his 212.5 cleans. What's true of casual lifters is true of great ones--ratio stays SAME & FS off rack should always exceed clean.

  • his best clean ever was 265 and his best front squat ever was 250
