  • Deep, soul-searching, and highly intellectual, his body language reveals just how haunted he is. Not just another shallow, self-absorbed rock star, this guy knows the deal, is very well traveled, and has friends all over the world. Interesting character. The other side of him is a hard drinking, practical joke playing wild man. I consider his lyrics to be on the level with Bob Dylan.

  • I think Ian drinks to forget the truth of human beings.

  • He has been blessed by God with an outstanding voice. I see a deeply troubled man---sad.

  • has he gone mad wtfs he ranting on about religion for fuck religion its got no place in music if i was in charge id ban all religion because it only cause war and hate between people and whats up with ians voice sounds like hes got the flu anyway hes a great rock singer but he needs to not go all cliff richard on us lol

  • For more than forty years I have known Ian Gillan to be an incredible artist, without peer. The lyrics he has given us over the decades form the base for the brilliant philosophy and advice he shares in this interview, and the experience of life has reinforced his obsrvations. What he has said here is much more important than many people will realize...and that is the shame of what we will be leaving for the future. Ian Gillan: a great human.

  • Ian should have played a character in Lord of the Rings

  • Ian Gillan best vocalist ever !!!

  • @Pighood Leave it to a pig to say the exact opposite of the TRUTH.

  • @AWGMJANS Its not "the Philosophers' who really teach you ANYTHING . Just like a million pissant uni students grappling with the complexities of any given philosopher ....its really only until what you ,yourself, come to understand through bitter hard learnt lessons that truly matter and resonate. I know wankers from uni who were fashionably left wing ...only to end up corporate scum . So do you mean -"shut up ian and just sing highway star" ? Though i agree with your comment about family

  • i am staggered ,no, STAGGERED at this interview - ian always seemed so happy go lucky , funny , light hearted ...but here- not only does he sound ponderous and depressed - he looks it too . Thats not to say there is no merit in his comments , its just strange to see a side of a person you admired since the 70s . i suppose his lyrics always suggested that he was deeper than his persona - but to have it confirmed - by himself no less= AMAZING !

Hey ian....if you read this good luck to ya fella
