Her story: Joy C., a homemaker, has had sick headaches since she was 15. Her headaches gradually increased in frequency and severity. The pain could be on one or both sides of her head, throbbing in quality, starting in her occipital area and extending across her whole head, forehead, behind her eyes, through her cheeks and into her teeth. Once per week, the head pain climbed to an extremely high intensity and was accompanied by light and sound sensitivity, nausea and vomiting. She frequently had a visual aura preceding her headaches.
When first seen at the Headache Institute of Texas, in San Antonio, she was having daily headaches, averaging a 6 on a 0-10 scale and a 10 pain level once per week (with associated migraine symptoms, as described). In addition to daily headaches (despite being on topamax), she was had daily neck, upper back, and shoulder blade pain. She also had daily ear pain, ear ringing, and jaw pain. She was dizzy twice per week.
How long does she hold it for? I'm in CA... I wish you had a clinic here!
