The weekend of June 6-8 2007, Gee Yung International Dragon and Lion Dance team performed at the Hawaii Theatre in Honolulu, Hawaii, as the opening act for the Shaolin Monks tour. Over the course of 3 days our jongs team performed 4 times, once on friday/sunday and twice on saturday.
The footage used contains some practice sessions and a mix of saturday/sunday performances. I'm only a 1 man operation so I tried to mix them to get different angles, but the areas I was allowed to film from were limited due to the venue.
The ground skit was done under blacklight.

I have always adored the Dragon & Lion dances the most!! I had no idea what kind of practice & strength the dances took...it's amazing...& standing on pedestals while your head & body are covered by the dragon &/or lion costumes!! You are just incredible with your balance & form!! Thank You for showing us a peek at what goes into animating a Lion or Dragon!!
