I agree with DeedsDan. It's too bad the video is short because there are a ton of great things about Brock. I came to Brock after hating UofT. It became even better when I got to work on research projects as an undergrad. People should really visit the campus or talk to a few people who go to Brock before posting what they THINK it's like. Don't be close minded and prejudge based on some rhyme.

Brock is very underrated !

Great video!! As a Mac student, full support to Brock! Any student should be proud to be a Brock student.

I hate how people always say "If you can walk and you can talk, you can go to brock", or "If you can walk, and you can throw a rock, then you can go to Brock".
It's such an underrated school, and I love showing this video to people that say that. :D

@drspeech1 (continued from last comment): And I stand by my opinion that I think you are ridiculous. I mean, you tried to belittle me by asking what university I attend, and by calling into question my abilities to argue. If you were such an advocate for leaving out ad hominem attacks, then why don't you focus on my arguments rather than attacking me?
You not only make me think you are ridiculous, but I also think that you're a hypocrite.
-
@drspeech1 Hahaha... and you have provided me with equally valid evidence that you are ill-equipped to logically argue as well. Trying to discount all of my arguments simply because I called you ridiculous at one point is a fallacy in and of itself.
I did two things in my comment: address your argument, AND "insult" you. (If you call THAT an insult, I most certainly don't) I never tried to disprove your arguments by ad hominem, I merely stated my opinion: I think you are ridiculous.

@Th3ch0s3n0n3s I am well aware of the "insult of sorts;" my point was (and is) that not everyone viewing the video will be aware of the full phrase or of its intent. I stand by what I wrote previously about my position - perhaps you should have read it before posting. By trying to insult me, as a person, and not addressing the argument, you have just provided the world with evidence that you are ill-equipped to argue logically. What university do you attend? Too bad, not good publicity at all...

@drcanal1 Wow, really? You're serious? You find this offensive? You sir/madam, are utterly ridiculous. This is merely playing on the phrase students from other institutions in Canada frequently use when referring to Brock students: "If you can walk and talk, you can go to Brock."
They use it as an insult of sorts, as if the mere ability to walk and talk is all you require to gain acceptance to this school. So this video is playing off of that phrase in a highly intelligent fashion.

Check out Brock University Smart Start Imagine Video!

Brock sounds like such a good time, especially because i am a proficient walker

If you are not smart enough to go to Brock, go to Niagara college with me; it's pretty close!

If you can walk faster...you can go to McMaster!
As a person with a disability, I find the reference to "If you can walk ..." in this video to be offensive. It certainly seems to suggest that those who created and approved this video are insensitive to how people with physical disabilities might interpret this reference. Those with physical disabilities are underrepresented at Brock; perhaps because much of the campus is relatively inaccessible. As a faculty member, I am embarrassed that this video is being used to promote the University!

@drcanal1 Also, we consulted with our accessibility office when developing the video. In fact, our campus was one of the first in Ontario to hire a full-time University Accessibility Coordinator, and Brock continues to be a leader in providing services for students with disabilities of all types.

@brockuvideo If you consulted with the Accessibility Office, then you must have considered the possibility that the video MIGHT offend someone with a physical disability. But, the staff of the Accessibility Office represent at most one or two individuals' opinions; those opinions are just that, and do not represent the views of others with disabilities. Why not ask faculty members or officials from established organizations that represent people with disabilities from OUTSIDE the University?
