It seems like he was cast to be the sidekick, but actually, I end up seeing his character more as the hero, with the advantages of comic relief, a soft side, a strong side, and inner conflict (making him a little more interesting). I don't think I'd be watching this show if this actor - Silas Weir Mitchell, playing this character, weren't in it.
I think this show might become bigger than they had anticipated. I'm watching this on tv in Brazil.
