The emerald ash borer is killing trees all around the Great Lakes and is spreading through the United States. Not only is it killing trees in National Parks and urban areas, it is threatening the lumber industry that provides ash wood for Major League Baseball bats. You can slow its spread by not moving firewood. Burn it where you buy it!

Ash wood is light weight, easy to split, and burns with the same qualities of more valuable hardwoods. Best of all, it can be burned as soon as it's cut, which means that I don't have to store it for a year. Apartment Complexes and landlords now hold a prejudice against Ash trees...I've fallen in love with the Emerald Ash Borer. It's a pretty cool little beetle.

WHEN ASH TREES GET STRESSED FROM EAB, THEY MAST(MASS SEED). All adult ash trees will be gone, but the species will be back with a new start. Unfortunately, it will loose ground to other trees taking it's groves. Fraxinus's downfall was being the best wood for fires, and befriending humans who planted them all over.
