Why do typographic animations all seem to look like this?

Brilliant. I like typography animations but so often I feel like I'm watching the same thing over and over, only the movie quotes change.

@mewsicluver it was done in After Effects- you can add to some textlayers a camera layer- then move the camera and text individually... :-)

look at flobofilms typographys

i hear you, bro...

I will tell you why... because they are typically done by students who got their inspiration from watching videos like this on You Tube... So they decided to make their own... and so having a limited imagination, it didnt occur to them that the movement could be created by other means besides after effects...

Hmm.... maybe a nice Garamond Old Face or cutesy Hobo would liven it up a tad? Or: let's try it in powder blue! Yeah~!

there are two really good ones on here which i think are pretty original. One from RocknRolla the other Full Metal jacket but other than these i do see what you mean.

Because the designers are crappy?

Okay I'm sorta confused, I know that you make it in photoshop, or whatever, but how do you animate it? O_o

No photoshop, all After Effects. Oh and a little bit of Illustrator.
