  • Here's the thing. No one is forcing anyone into any bank. Want to buy a house? Then do it on your own without a bank. Most credit unions will not put up enough money like a bank will. That is a the nature of the beast.

  • Small banks are not as solvent. Credit unions have no federal insurance. Their insurance is backed by a private firm.  PRIVATE FIRM. The same people that use banks to invest in.

  • I just joined a credit union. I closed my account at Wells Fargo.

    I've enjoyed Wells Fargo but i talked to a banker there about having a seperate checking and savings that was attached to my existing accounts). He created a premium account that is charging me crazy fees! I'm closing it as soon as i can and seriously considering closing my older, college checking account too for a credit union.
