I grew up 2 blocks from Leichhardt oval and my grandfather was the gatekeeper. I snuck in on this night and met Wally and Mal and the signed my little book every 11 year old has. These 2 gentle giants had me awestruck totally and I followed them onto their days with the Broncos and completely wiped the Balmain Tigers. Never have looked back and happy to say I'm a Bronco for life after watching this great game! Thankyou Wally and Thankyou Mal for being who you are! A credit to the game! They din

I remember watching that contest on the telly. That was a bloody epic contest that, the final of the 1984 mid-week comp, by then called thew Panasonic Cup. I noted at the time that Wally Lewis was quite agreeable, indeed honored, to drape an Eastern Suburbs jumper over himself at the end of that monumental, sfaggering contest.

Love the boos for Wally. Queensland had just beaten the Blues for the third year in a row in State of Origin so not surprising he was none too popular at Leichhardt!
