Skip a trip -- go online @ dol.wa.gov. This video takes a look at the "swerve" in the motorcycle skills test. The swerve is a counter-steering maneuver that can be used to avoid obstacles.

This video is the final installment of a 4-part series produced by the Washington State Department of Licensing.

  • great video

  • @johncat3 Congrats! FYI - there are several 'intermediate', 'experienced', and 'advanced' courses offered in WA that really help riders understand FEAR, Vision & Line Selection, and Cornering!

If you've not taken a rider training course... try one!

A lot of what 'works' at (faster) street speeds is counter intuitive. It isn't what we 'think' we should do.

Try a course... I'd love to hear what ya' learn.

  • I have learned a lot from this video I think I'm ready

  • @AmericanSCPO Thanks! Our goal was to inform folks about the components and skills looked at in the evals.

There are lots of 'ways' and 'techniques' to ride. (Dependent upon rider, bike, abilities/limitations, and (trained) skills.) These videos were not designed to 'teach' folks how to ride, or how to pass. Just inform and get folks thinking.

Yes, there are rider training safety courses available. Go to dol.wa.gov for info about motorcycle classes offered.

    Good luck!
