Asus is showing this 9" e-reader that uses SiPix and comes with a pretty cool capacitative touch screen for navigation, text input and more. It will come in WiFi and GSM versions.

  • I BET this Asus e-reader has that sh*tty glare like Sony PRS-600 as it's touch screen.

Since this review is not done in real life situations outdors/indoors with lamo on I caan assune it's got the same issues with glare, just like prs-600

If this is the case , it's not worth a buy. Stay with prs-300 or prs-505 if you can get it.

  • This Asus e-reader has a capacitive touch screen. The Sony e-reader you are talking about has a resistive touch screen. Capacitive removes most of the glare that the resistive touch screen has.

  • to Charbax the OP, How did you perceive the Glossy screen? Was it annoying or bothering to you? Or was it not so bad.

    Thanks for posting this btw

  • @abvmoose87 I don't know, I didn't notice it was glossy. I've seen a couple other SiPix screens before, I am not sure if SiPix has less contrast than e-ink. Anyways, I think the capacitative touch screen is very good, and in theory should be just as readable as without the touch screen feature.

  • u sure it's capacitive, I heard it was resistive

  • @abvmoose87 I'm very sure it is capacitative. I can feel the difference, and I asked a high level rep again today to confirm, yes it is capacitative touch screen on SiPix.

  • "... it never works!"

  • What is not too big if in carrying it everywhere! but nice and sophisticated ..

  • Well finaly it seems to be launched after 29th of november 2010 in Taiwan only..

  • This one more addition to the Asus non existent line of ebook readers. Asus is busy with laptops and pcs.

  • Annoying hair and voice, but nice e-reader.

  • is this ebook-reader ready for :Epub adobeDRM?

  • Does anyone know how good the PDF support of this ebook reader?

Most ereaders treats the PDF format like a picture. Hope this one is not.

  • Kobo samsung and asus need to get in the market so there's more price competition in the US. The nook and kindle are overpriced and gouge the authors. Sony's is just retarded. Astak is the best of the worst. Alex reader is good too but super expensive even though it's just a little better than nook.

  • Looks great but very unresponsive.

  • Umm, does anyone else have a problem with the Favorites symbol that they use? Instead of a heart, it looks like an arm...
