Hi... I'm pretty new to Shakespeare, we just read Othello in my Drama class and I loved it. I have a question - why did Hamlet tell Ophelia earlier that he didn't love her, and then freak out at her funeral and say he did love her? Is it just a Shakespeare thing?

I think he told her that because he thought it was best. Besides, he saw the feets under the curtain and knew they were being watched. I believe he did not want to give her any hope because, he after all planned to kill the king and did not know if he would survive. And he was supposed to be mad and I think that he thought that he told her that he did not love he only made his act more convinsing if you see what I mean. That however is only what I believe and it is only my opinion.
