Nice stuff!!! I like playing this Manz piece myself.

i totally agree, when i 1st heard this intro, it sounded like the SAME intro as HANDEL'S Messiah !!! i wonder who arranged this hymn...hmmmm
-
If you have the score, could you scan it to me. Then I have the oppurtunity to play during the church service.

Well done! Your pedalling is so good! Well, I am actually a fake organist of my Methodist Church who does not know how to play the pedal properly. I actually learnt how to play piano only.
By the way, I would like to ask you, is bass coupler the best solution to avoid pedal?
hehehehehe, a big Allen Organ in my church also I don't know how to play well.
Best wishes

Ha, I suppose in a pinch the base coupler works if you're a pianist that's just looking to play 4-part hymn scores. You have so many options when you develop a good pedal technique though. You should look for a teacher in your area if at all possible. Best of luck!

My copy is pretty old, I believe the piece was written in the seventies. It was published by Morningstar. I checked J.W. Pepper but did not see it. You may consider checking a store that specializes in organ music such as Oberlin or Lois Fyfe music. It may also be out of print.

What is this piece?? Sounds like an improvisation on Handel and bits of hymns! Wish I could play like this - especially the foot gymnastics... nice pedalling!

You are absolutely right. It's a hymn improvisation by Paul Manz on the tune CWM Rhondda or "God of Grace" It's got a couple of other texts too. The ritornello is kind of a nod at Handel and the famous 'Hallelujah' chorus from the Messiah (good ear!).
