  • - "A quarter pound of beef raises insulin levels in diabetics as much as a quarter pound of straight sugar" (Diabetes care 7 (1984):465)

    - World Health Organization recommends a minimum of 5% protein in daily recommended allowance of calories.

    - The typical American diet is NOT high in carbohydrates; 15% protein, 40% fat, 45% carbs on average....

  • All of these examples (butter, whole milk) contain an excess omega-6 to omega-3 ratio, excessive amounts of omega-6 polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFA) and a very high omega-6/omega-3 ratio, as is found in today's Western diets, promote the pathogenesis of many diseases, including cardiovascular disease, cancer, and inflammatory and autoimmune diseases, whereas increased levels of omega-3 PUFA (a low omega-6/omega-3 ratio) exert suppressive effects. Pharmacother. 2002 Oct; 56(8): 365-79

  • As a final word for any Type II diabetic, try to consume a diet that has a percentage ratio of fat and protein LOWER than 10% for three days (cronometer com is an excellent source), while completely avoiding any refined/processed foods and consuming a high fiber diet of majority of fruits, vegetables, and gluten-free grains. Measure blood glucose level after a carbohydrate meal of medium glycemic food for a few hours and there should be a MASSIVE improvement. Neil Barnard's work on this topic.
