The Torkinator 2 - a high performance motor design for the GoPed ESR, Hoverboard, or IPed. Shown here with 13/75 hill climb gears (gearing for stock speed, and tremendous hill-climb ability). The T2 is capable of over 30mph when installed into a LiPo powered GoPed Hoverboard, and will do 29mph on an SLA powered ped with a 165lb rider when sprocketed 17/60. • Join goped nation and look in the electrics forum for more information.

  • A few questions. I'm thinking about using one for a delivery service. About how many miles could i get if I were to go top speed constantly? If I were to use it at the top speed mainly how long would the engine last? To charge your Goped do you need to charge the whole scooter or can you carry a backup battery for when it gets low? And what is the cost? Thanks!

  • Post on goped nation under the electrics forum. To give you a reasonable estimate, I need a lot more information like rider weight, terrain, how many starts and stops per trip, what speed do you want to travel at, and so on. Engine life is in the thousands of miles; I haven't had a user wear one out yet. Yes, you need to charge the whole scooter. Most delivery services use 2 per employee. Cost varies depending on model; 1K to as much as 3X that.

  • Not if ridden at the same speeds, no. If ridden at faster speeds, yes. There is no free lunch.

  • This is the Torkinator 2 motor running a 13/75 sprocket ratio and running approximately 20mph. This is a great general purpose hills/flats ratio capable of climbing 20%+ grades continuously.

For top speed with a 160lb rider, a 17/60 ratio yields 29mph on a SLA ped and we expect WELL over 30mph on a LiPo ped.
