One last destination in Turkey - Diyarbakir, epicenter of Kurdish Resistance. A 45-minute ferry ride across a small lake created by Ataturk Dam as part of the 3-1/2 hour ride from Hotel Euphrat. Amusing watching the sheer amount of people crammed into a van get in and out. Reminded me of the "clown cars" in the circus with its never-ending stream of clowns appearing.
A brief stop at a gas station for tea and toilets that was loaded with huge semis being washed while drivers snarfed down a fast lunch. Three Kurdish men made a fashion statement wearing this year's favorite purple, gauzy scarf. Travels With Sheila doesn't think she'll ever look at purple again without thinking of Southeast Turkey!
Nice to see my beautiful Amed/Diyarbekir again. But the guy that so called presents Kurdish city is most definitely a turkish spy that tries to scare tourist with baseless info with his broken english. There're of course such things happens, but these kids 're directed and paid by turkish civil-polices to keep the tourist away from the region.
Corrupt turkish state does everything to just to keep the tourists away from the Kurdish region.
