One last destination in Turkey - Diyarbakir, epicenter of Kurdish Resistance. A 45-minute ferry ride across a small lake created by Ataturk Dam as part of the 3-1/2 hour ride from Hotel Euphrat. Amusing watching the sheer amount of people crammed into a van get in and out. Reminded me of the "clown cars" in the circus with its never-ending stream of clowns appearing.

A brief stop at a gas station for tea and toilets that was loaded with huge semis being washed while drivers snarfed down a fast lunch. Three Kurdish men made a fashion statement wearing this year's favorite purple, gauzy scarf. Travels With Sheila doesn't think she'll ever look at purple again without thinking of Southeast Turkey!

  • Nice to see my beautiful Amed/Diyarbekir again. But the guy that so called presents Kurdish city is most definitely a turkish spy that tries to scare tourist with baseless info with his broken english. There're of course such things happens, but these kids 're directed and paid by turkish civil-polices to keep the tourist away from the region.

Corrupt turkish state does everything to just to keep the tourists away from the Kurdish region.
