This is what happens when you do "rm -rf /".
Stuff keeps running, but you no longer can access any files.

Note that I have cut the first 4 minutes; they were quite uneventful.

Also, "dd if=/dev/urandom of=/dev/rwd0a" doesn't work on NetBSD as it says "Read-only filesystem" or something. As for FreeBSD, apparently "rm -rf /" doesn't work.
