On November 9, 2008, Ani Ashekian left Xian, China on a Dragon Airlines flight to Hong Kong.

On November 10, Ani Ashekian was seen in Chungking Mansions in Tsim Sha Tsui and also Causeway Bay.

And then on November 11, Ani Ashekian disappeared without a trace.

Tourists in Hong Kong simply don't vanish. Last year, more than 29 million visitors passed through Hong Kong's borders and this native to Canada was one of them.

But according to the Immigration Department, there is no record of Ani ever having left Hong Kong.

There have been no e-mails or phone calls to friends and family. There has been no activity on her bank accounts. There is no electronic or print paper trail. The pervasive digital traces we all generate in today's information driven society there are none for Ani Ashekian.

Eight months have passed since anyone has last seen or heard from her. It's a mystery with many questions and few clues, and it's a mystery that has left family members and loved ones longing for information.

How could a tourist simply disappear in Hong Kong one of the safest cities in the world?

  • I dont know what the Chungking mansion thing is so played up, though it is possible, i feel that the trip to Hong Kong from Beijing itself was weird. Why would someone change thier itenary and avoid their friends without a formal... "see you soon, enjoy vietna.." something like that, and if there was a change in the itenary at the very least she would have mentioned why and sound excited with her family! Hong Kong is a busy Port she could have been smuggled out somewhere else?

  • ChungKing Mansions is a guesthouse on Nathan Road HK, that is Kowloon side nothing near Causway Bay, Chungking Mansions is not that bad, but you do have many indian and black people living in that area, that does put alot of people off staying there and people often move on from there after a short while, so maybe she did move to Causway Bay for awhile.

  • i think she met someone in the mansion and told her that im staying at this hotel its really nice. And the people came and kidnapped her well im just saying.

  • Chung King mansions is not in Causeway Bay

  • at 0:12 i know that hostel its at causeway bay my brothers stayed there on there visit to hong kong... when the rest of my family left my brothers stayed in that similar room.... i think in that floor there is a counter outside the room and in that floor there is a place where you could use the computer...
