This is the first in a series of videos I'm taking of our son Julian who has severe Childhood Apraxia of Speech and likely is "on the spectrum." The purpose of this video series is to show how much motor planning is involved in speech production for these children that suffer from this neurological condition and also just how hard Julian is trying. Great video! I am a SLP student working on my undergrad and videos like this one make me realize what a great field I'm getting into!

You are a special person for dedicating yourself to this field. Thank you so much for watching and commenting on my video. Julian has made so much progress...if you get a chance watch my most recent video just posted day before yesterday. He amazes us everyday!

P.S. I watched your T'giving makeup vid, you're a doll. Coincidentally, I used to work in that field (was a makeup artist for Nordstrom.) :)

I have Aspergers and I can remember my speech being slurred quite like that before kindergarten.

My son Gavin, is two and a half going on three in two months. We been working with a group called MECA here in New Mexico for the last year and a half. They are talking now about him having apraxia ... after watching your video I finally feel a calm because I knew something was want right with my son's speech development... I was wanting to try and implement sign language with my son... do you think that would work??

thank you for sharing this video of your son! you don't know how much it helps! I have been searching for other kids just like my son ..he is much older than the normal age many get diagnosed with apraxia. My son tj also loves trucks but doesn't know how to say mama or anything close to trucks like julian did..i was smiling each time he said something because it was words and i could understand them. im hoping with speech therapy my son can make improvements like that :D

@alinder what an ignorant thing to say! As a parent of a child with autism you should KNOW that Autism presents so differently for all kids.

My son is 14 & high functioning autistic with schizophrenia nos. I dont see autistic sign in Julien. His apraxia is the only thing i see. He seems like a very normal little boy.
