There have been some sizable new developments along Howard Street in the past half-dozen years, but they haven't made much impact on the feel of the street. Retail development still lags, and shows few signs of improvement.

  • This has to be one of the SCARIEST neighborhoods in the north side. Lots of crime, drugs and prostitution.

  • someone just got beatup there yesterday...its getting worse by greenview-howard-jarvis.

  • @sdots212 LOL! nah man you wont get messed up. Rogers Park is a gentrified neighborhood that is diverse with equal numbers of whites, blacks, hispanics & asians. whites live everywhere & even walk their dogs out late at night up to 3 0'clock in the morning. CPD are always doing patrols from east side along the lakefront to the westside of Rogers Park. we have many ethnic restaurants from african, carribbean, chinese, mexican, indian, etc. plus we gangs of late nite bars & sidewalk cafes.

  • @YoChicago1 Thanks for the clip! Self-imposed exile from East Rogers Park in 1973. Grew up @1532 Birchwood, remember the Walgren's on Howard and Ashland, Woolworth's on Howard. North Paulina. Graduated from Sullivan. Moved to Idaho in 1975, now in Montana.. Only one point, your narritive states that you are headed east from "Chicago and Howard." Wouldn't it be Clark? Anyways thanks again!

  • @26Deacon im white...not a yuppie at any means..will i get messed with if i move into the area?

  • @sdots212 yeah thats cool joe. Rogers Park is off the chain in the summer with the women, beaches, lakefronts, resturants & cafes but the winters makes look like Canada. thats why the northside is nicknamed the North Pole. i moved here from the hood on the westside of Chicago years ago & this is like a breath of fresh air for me & my fam. you dont even need a car cause we have the 24hr redline el trains & bus stops everywhere. a lot of stores are within walking distance too.

  • @26Deacon yea im looking at rogers park area..when i get there we blaze and play nba 2k?

  • @sdots212 first of all which northside neighborhood are you looking at? Rogers Park where im at is cool, but you have trendy northside hoods like Lake View, Lincoln Park & Roscoe Village. if you wanna live close to the lakefront & beaches & nightlife then i recommend Rogers Park where im at, Lake View or Edgewater. Uptown is so so cause its the roughest area on the northside but you cant beat the new Target store there next to the el stop on wilson st. welcome to the north pole!

  • @26Deacon im bout to be moving to the north side of chicago- help me get started !!

  • Oh my god, the nostalgia... Thanks so much for sharing. Love your videos.
