Although the general public in Bangladesh was given to believe that Bangladesh did not sign the proposed protocol on transit to India during the recent visit of the Indian Prime Minister to Dhaka as India backed off from signing the Tista River Water Sharing Treaty at the last moment, the Advisor to the Bangladesh Prime Minister now acknowledge that India is enjoying transit facility of goods/cargo through Bangladesh on a test basis and claim that the water sharing and transit are separate issues.
