I think some people install a warford transmission(secondary) to prevent that from happening.

i bet those things would go better then some of todays 4x4's, mind you i bet they could use another 100hp..

@mark16443 It's just another set of wheels. These conversions where usually done on the longer 1 ton Model TT truck. In the summer you'd take off the tracks, the skis, put the front wheels back on and run it as a 6x2 truck.

Were they originaly made from ford or were they converted to snowmobiles?

They were made by the Snowmobile Company in Ossipee, NH. They were sold to Ford Dealers who installed the snowmobile kit on Model T Fords. They cost about $400.00 about the same as the cost of the Model T.
