Tom Theobald from Colorado has pulled off a great coup by getting Dan Rather - veteran American TV anchorman - to produce this in-depth look at the link between Neonicotinoid insecticides and the mass-death of bee colonies around the world
Fantastic program. As a bee-keeper and farmer, I am very grateful that people are speaking out against these pesticide materials. We need to take a stand against big Ag and chemical companies that are setting up our world for failure (aka starvation).
Not to disparage what you're saying Kilroy, but the video says the bees forage over several thousand acres. With this in mind, you'd have to check a lot of "neighbors" to see if your bees would be safe.
We can't poison the species that keeps OUR food web alive. Plain and simple. If it kills bees, it needs to come off the market.
Should be quite simple. I'm a bee keeper you come to me and want to rent my hives. I say sure what pesticides do you use and what pesticides are by your neighbors that would be within the bees forage area. No Neonicotinoid fine no problem. There is Neonicotinoid in the area find another keeper. Did your bees still die?
