'The Dog's Master'
Pieter Hugo
In Abuja we found them living on the periphery of the city in a shantytown - a group of men, a little girl, three hyenas, four monkeys and a few rock pythons. It turned out that they were a group of itinerant minstrels, performers who used the animals to entertain crowds and sell traditional medicines. The animal handlers were all related to each other and were practising a tradition passed down from generation to generation. I spent eight days travelling with them. • They aren't photoshopped. These hyenas are fat, overfed pets, not the lean, well-conditioned specimens running around the savannahs. You notice they're muzzled in public so obviously they are only partially domesticated.

This photographer is a respected, internationally exhibited artist who isn't going to photoshop images just to mess with YT doofuses. Check all the photos at stevenson.info/exhibitions/hugo/nigeria_index2.htm

  • You must think you are being funny trying to make fun of Nigerians by photoshopping images.

  • @casanovajgj84 agreed

  • I think these are photoshopped

  • Let's see michael Vick try to fuck with that!

  • NIGERIA!!! DON'T WORRY IT'S MY COUNTRY AND EVERYTHING GOES.

  • I'd like to have hyena as pet, they can eat my leftovers. Sweet, except I will not have a hyena as pet.

  • @HunterofDarkness283 Maybe it's possible to domesticate hyenas, but research suggests that it would take at least three generations to do so, and even then it wouldn't be certain. They have centuries of wildness and raw aggression bred into them, can weigh almost 200lbs and are able to crack elephant bones with the jaws.

If you want to try and domesticate a hyena, be my guest.......

  • Like a Boss.

  • Poor animals!!
