Day 1 - The Master Cleanse #1, video journal June 8, 2009
This is the first of a series of journal entries while on the master cleanse. My intention is to lose weight and detox my system in preparation for a healthier lifestyle and more disciplined eating habits. For Day One I made a larger daily batch of lemonade. Approx. 72 oz as opposed to 60 oz. and used 12 tbl maple syrup total. Tomorrow I will follow the recipe below exactly. I was just afraid I would want more of the lemonade to get me through the first day without and some folks say that they do 8 servings/day so I thought it would be okay so long as I did not add more maple syrup.
Main Ingredients for the Master Cleanse Recipe * Pure Filtered Water * Grade B Organic Maple Syrup, Formaldehyde free * Organic Cayenne Pepper * Organic Lemons * Sea salt - Unrefined, (Not iodized) or Epsom Salt
Tea: * Laxative tea (Smooth Move from Traditional Medicinals (milder) or a 100% Senna Leaf tea (stronger because it is full strength) * Natural Herbal Tea (decaffeinated only, like Mint) for anytime like when you out with friends etc and need something to put in your mouth.
Below are two different recipes. The first is for a single serving of the master cleanse lemonade. The second will make 6 servings
#1 (single serving): * 2 Tablespoons of organic lemon Juice (about 1/2 a Lemon) * 2 Tablespoons of Organic grade B maple syrup (not the commercial maple flavored syrup you use on pancakes) * 1/10 Teaspoon Cayenne pepper powder * Ten ounces of filtered water
#2 (60 oz. daily serving): * 60 ounces of filtered water * 12 Tablespoons of organic grade B maple syrup * 12 Tablespoons of organic lemon juice * 1/2 Teaspoon cayenne pepper powder
1) Before Bed take the laxative tea
2) First thing in morning do the salt water flush (32 oz warm water, 2 TEASPOONS of sea salt)
3) drink the 60oz of lemonade throughout the day in ADDITION to drinking just water. Any sign of food cravings take a swig. Can have up to 8-12 servers per day if you feel you need it but the 6 servings is ideal. (I take between 6 and 8 servings per day depending upon how I feel... although I have reduced the maple syrup by a tablespoon our so if I do as much as 8 servings).
4) go a minimum of 10 days... can go as long as 28-40! No cheating allowed. Its a short period of your life for great long term internal results. It also makes you a stronger person. WILL POWER! SELF DISCIPLINE!
It's so freaky looking at you, because you look just like me! Who knows, maybe we're related somehow. Anyway, I just started the cleanse so I'm going to watch your results to see what the cleanse will do for me. Thanks.

I did just start today and im drinking the drink right now and i feel a little dizzy is that normal?

Well... I experienced dizzyness off an on while on the MC. If its just been less than 24 hours not much is going on yet in terms of detoxing symptoms. Perhaps you need another swig of the lemonade, or drink it more frequently. Another thought might be if you have some sort of sugar disorder (like diabetes)... the maple syrup would not be good for you if you were diabetic. Good luck. The experience changes each day.

my boyfriend and I are starting the diet we had started on monday sept 21 this is our second day im trying to lose 25 to 30 lbs i hope i can do it for 10 or 14 days but i have a ? do we have to do the salt and water

Hi beautifulricanmami,
Thats awesome you are starting the MC. The salt water flush works the best however you can substitute another laxative tea in the morning instead. That means 1 tea at night and another in the morning. That is the tea made with "senna leaf"... GOOD LUCK! Its tough but totally worth it. : )
