This video took me a few days to make here is some of the stuff i had to do.

1. Motion track the footage, making a vector mask which PFtrack helped me with both of those, and also exporting the 3d tracking data into after effects.

2.i had to rotoscope jacob out of the shot, in other words i had to go frame by frame making a mask around jacob so i could put things behind him also the new roto brush saved me some hours, al though the time taken to rotoscope him took about 5 hours.

3.after all that i had to create the explosion with various fire, explosion, glass, debris, smoke, sparks, dust, elements, etc, using the tracking data to make everything stay with the movement of the footage.

4.making all the elements go together and getting the position just right took about a full day.I also added flashes, and flicker lights where the fire's glow would be on the street

5. i color corrected the whole scene and also had to go back and time remap allot of the fire footage because i realized that one fire footage was not the same speed as the other fire so i matched the speed to the other one.

6.i rendered the scene out of after effects and threw it into premiere pro. First thing i did was added the letterbox because i forgot to add that in aftereffects. After that i used allot of different sound elements like: explosions, glass falling, metal crashes, debris, foot steps, fire, etc..

7. after all that work i rendered it out of premiere and threw it in media encoder and compressed so i could upload it to youtube and Facebook.

8. hope this gave you a idea of what i do :)

  • Haha cool. But the explosion looks fake, so the whole thing looks fake. Nice rotoscoping and all, but the explosion is not very good.

  • @Qzyxya I agree, thanks for the feedback :)

  • It looks pretty nice, a lot better than some other vids on youtube...

But with that little camera motion you could have either locked the camera down and added the shake afterwards, or simply stabilized the footage and saved some time tracking that. Nice work !!

  • @tellect8 thx :)

just wanted to test some new tracking software :) and plus my tripod wasn't around :)

  • a lot of work but realy awesome video , and a great designer

  • @Mackfirst1 thank you very much!
