Many of us are conditioned from a young age to accept a set of beliefs, to forego critical thinking, and to pass those beliefs on to others. This is the mind control method that allows religion (Christianity no exception) to survive from generation to generation. It had me under its spell for 19 years. No more.

  • Darryl, have you looked into Buddhism? B/c it asks it's believers to question everything! And not take anything on faith. I think it is one of the religions that is the exception to this "mind control" you talk about. Though they do encourage mediation which could be considered a form of mind control but not manipulation.

  • @mckohtz Both Buddhism and Hinduism are on my list of things to study in the not-too-distant future - not because I'm looking to find a total worldview within one of them, just to see what might rub off on me from the Eastern schools of thought.

  • Congratulations on setting your mind free!

  • @malikc6 If you choose an action only because you've been forced down that path by God against your will, how is that good or noble or moral? True ethics of merit are those that WE choose for ourselves, by considering the consequences of our actions. This is true responsibility. If you are not capable of it, then yes, you need religion. Not all of us have such a poor estimation of our natures.

  • look in our government how the very movies and videogames promote tolerance unity world peace and globalization. independence day halo and section 8 mankind is united against in alien foe and have put aside all differences. look at the communistic laws being passed by the occult in our govnemrent the ndaa which does away with the bill of rights the patriot act the protect ip act. just he other day a law was passed allowing spyplanes to spy on american people .and even in brittain

  • no different than being brainwashed in to believing there is no god in educaton system in elementary or the very movies music and television we watch brainwashes us. we have had a massive moral decline because of hte illuminati and the new world order. put enough violence sex and and drugs and immoality in peoples lives and they will crave it. hitler also used the radio media and education system to brainwash people. religion isn't the problem people without beliefs morals honor integrity are.

  • @JaMmKr3w I have a different way of looking at the idea of an afterlife, but I appreciate you sending me good thoughts.

  • @darrylsloan I believe that as long as you are a good person, and you live your life for others, God will bless you with eternal happiness in Heaven. So, jus to give you comfort, i am sure your mom is happier than she has ever been, and is watching down on you :D

  • @darrylsloan i am a christian, more specifically a catholic. Yet, i find it better not 2 listen 2 90% of the stuff the church teaches. i do believe that Jesus was sent by God as his only son, died for us, and rose again. I also believe God is the creator of all things. However, i those are the only things the church has taught me that i believe. besides that, all my other beliefs i have come to through personal experience and thoughts. As far as people going to Hell if they don't believe, ignore

  • @malikc6 where in my reply did I say it was the opposite of what you said! You are putting words in my mouth. Grief is a complex emotion and process, so you can't point to one aspect of a person and say that is the cause of their prolonged grief.

  • @malikc6 Do you understand what antidotal means? Antidotal means: not necessarily true or reliable, because based on personal accounts rather than facts or research.

  • @malikc6 It's called wishful thinking.

  • @mckohtz I also have family member individuals who say the same as well. Plus it only makes sense. Almost every religion has an afterlife after death and believers feel they will meet again and their depression and sadness goes down a bit. General sense. It would be very unlikely if it were the other way around.
