O sole mio and Ave maria are not Italian arias. O sole mio can mostly classified as a folk song and Ave maria is a religious catholic song.

Purely true; on a classical station we can hear something pleasing by Debussy or many others and all of a sudden someone is screeching at us. Maybe it made sense when people didn't know we can sing without shouting but it makes no sense now.
