Visualization of lower troposphere temperature data from RSS AMSU.
Temperature anomalies calculated as difference between temperature data and yearly oscillation determined as per-month average over 1981~2010.
Maximum difference in monthly data versus average is about 10°C, the color scale covers -5°C~5°C.
Local temporary fluctuations appear much more prominent than for instance El Nino which can be found near equator during e.g. 1998 or 2010.

Color key:
purple ... -5°C or less
blue ... -3°C
cyan ... -1°C
green ... 1°C
yellow ... 3°C
red ... 5°C or higher
