@JaHaskins12 indeed even the samurai started to use guns after a while because they could not leave behind BUT they didnt see any honor in it and found it a waste of traditional swordsman training

Yeah, yopu don't really know what you are talking about. Upper class warriors like Bushi and Samurai didn't use shields because they needed both hands for their two handed weapons i.e. Bow, Spear, and Sword. But anyother warrior would use a shield because they weren't as heavily armored. And Samurai loved guns man. After the Nobunaga proved the hyper effectiveness of firearms the samurai quickly adopted it as a weapon due to efficiency.

@JaHaskins12 Have you ever heard about Bushido ? Are you mistaken Samurais to Shinobi... ? Using the non-traditional sword or foreign sword is even considered taboo in late feudal age.... Which is kind of suck I know.
Yes, some samurais use shield. But that was in the Warring State period of Japan, they have to fight in battlefield not in duel. Also, they don't usually carry a shield with them. They used the shield that their commander provided to directly chrage at markmen/ archer lines.
