Pictures that I have taken of the old theatre in Mattydale, New York with historical information I found on the internet.

  • It's definitely still standing. I walk right by it everyday.

  • Thanks for keeping us posted. I try to drop by when I am in the area, which is a rare occasion. It probably can be demolished and months would pass b/4 I would know lol. With that in mind, I was in the area and I drove by today when I was giving my mom a tour of Central New York State. I couldn't resist taking her by the ol' Cinema North, esp since she was the one that pretty much gave me the interest in photographing old places before they are demolished. Please keep us posted of any changes.

  • If it's still standing, with some work, it could make a great Rock N Roll club.

  • As far as I know, it is still standing. As soon as I find out if it has been demolished, I will post it here somewhere. -JR

  • Stumbled on this doing a search for the old Cinema North. It's still there, by the way. In 2008 Syracuse.com posted a story stating that developers were hoping to put up a Hotel there. It never happened. My family and I went to eat at Zebbs last week and I looked over at the old place, wondering what might be lurking inside.

  • Although these small, single-screen cinemas can't compete with the multiplexes, many have been reborn as playhouses or intimate music venues. I don't know if the community there could support such a venture, and it sounds like the interior is pretty much destroyed, but other little theaters like this one, perhaps with more historic architectual interest, have been given new life as live performance spaces.
