this is the song that made me play gamba
THANKS

Sounds great indeed, first time I really like the da gamba sound, mellow and clear as well. Nice chant as well.

Sea Shanties, or chanties, were sung by seamen through the ages and passed down from generation to generation. Sometimes they are accompanied by instruments.
-
It's a bass viol. Prototype of the "Contra-Bass" or in English "Bowed Double-Bass"
-
What a lovely melody. It has medieval sounds. what is this Chanty??
-
From the bottom, strings are tuned AA, D, G, c, e, a, d1. the bottom three are gut wound in silver, the top 4 are open, twisted and polished gut.
viol music is written in many clefs - treble, treble an octove down, alto, tenor, and bass are the most normal, but there is baritone clef and soprano clef as well.
-
Such an awsome instrument, anyone know what clef it plays in, and what strings it has?
-
bass viol

Is that a tenor or a bass viol?
too beautiful sound.
I really love the sound of viola da gamba.
