This video is the third in my Minecraft Morning Musings series, in which I sail eastward while talking about philosophy. I'm starting with the Dao de Jing (Tao te Ching). You can find public domain copies all over the internet, but in this video is specifically reference the public domain translations by J. H. McDonald and James Legge.

  • where do you find this stuff?

  • @madman3311992 Just google Dao de Jing. there's a ton of public domain translations and resources for it.

  • somehow i accidentally clicked the subscribe button

  • @schmeed0000 Maybe that's just the way of things.

  • So calm... completely opposite of Veches maps

  • @12345snape Yeah, you guys are gonna be so much more lulled by my normal adventure maps that when I freak out and scream, you will throw your wiimotes through the televisions of folks whose windows face yours.

  • One thought, Hills, is that you may want to post the text of the passages you're reading in the description, so that folks don't have to trundle around the Internet for it. Or at least a link to whereever you're getting these translations from.

  • Having this video open while playing Sea of Flames II is...very relaxing.

  • I love how Joe is saying an analogy about bridges and then a giant arch appears in the horizon.

  • I love your accent on these videos almost as much as Taoism. I know no-one who talks like this in Scotland, even among loads of Americans. Subscribed.

  • Good so far. Maybe toward the meditation segment, you could enable the MC sounds? Not sure if the boat makes a noise as you jet around but maybe ambient noise would lend to the contemplative mood.

  • @dereckc765671 The rock spires and the arch were a surprise. I pretty much just said, here's some money, make something I can sail through that's interesting occasionally. He nailed it.

  • @0hushpiper0 Yeah, sage is way less loaded, and the less preconceptions, the better!
