Interview conducted by Eileen Hurst. Parker joined the U.S. Marine Corps on July 22, 1968 just after graduation from high school. He attended boot camp at Parris Island, South Carolina, and after additional training in North Carolina and California, Parker was assigned to Danang Air Base in Vietnam. His first assignment in Danang was as a baker, and then later he was assigned to the mailroom on the base. In addition to the seven day a week job in the mail room, he also went out on patrols, or as extra help with reconnaissance at night as a machine gunner. He was discharged in February of 1970, and returned home to West Hartford, CT, where he worked as a firefighter for 24 years in West Hartford, and in Hartford for seven. He joined the VFW in West Hartford shortly after returning from Vietnam.

  • Regardless of the war, or the reason for the war in which the serviceman or woman has fought...if something happens when we are threatened at home; they are the first to stand up and put foot to ass on the front line. Respect your military, they protect you and protect many many other countries. Each and every time I see a serviceman or woman I will go out of my way and try and shake their hand and say thank you.

  • @BobbyWarrenMiller Conspiracy nut eh? I'll entitle you to your opinion and you should to me. But I just wanted to say that sounds like bullshit.

  • I came here to bash this jar-head, but having flown medivac missions in III Corps in 1968, I can't. You can hear the brainwashing through-out this video. The Marines are fed the God and Country bullshit by the bankers and their puppets 24/7. I served in both the Air Force (SAC) and the Army as a combat pilot in the (192 AHC) with an additional 10 years as a Special Operations Contractor and I couldn't believe how little the life of a Marine means to the Gen. Staff at the Pentagon.
