9/30/11 This bike is now up for sale due to my retirement and I am no longer using it daily for commuting. $5500 obo. Contact me at electric.bobber@gmail.com . This is the first test ride of Sparky, my Electric Powered Motorcycle back in August '08. It's made from an aftermarket rigid frame, Harley Springer front end, Harley wheels, an 8hp electric motor, and 5 Optima yellow-top batteries. The bike will do 52 mph without any transmission, and the range is somewhere between 25 and 30 miles on a charge. There is 10 feet of extension cord stored underneath one of the gas caps for the onboard battery chargers. The only noise you hear is the chain/sprocket noise. The bike likes 30-40mph the best which is perfect for my small town. Read more at http://www.evalbum.com/2003

  • Is it for sale?

  • @jhawkdesign I really have thought about it since I retired and it really isnt being used as often as it should be. Make me an offer I cant refuse? :-)

  • have you tried it on the street with traffic

  • @honeybunchickens Yes, I've been riding it to work and around town for nearly 3 years. See my second video of the electric bike.

  • Well done. Just wondering why you left the gas tank on?

  • @henrybwang See the Electric Bobber video, part 2 of mine for the answer. The tank stores the electric extension cord to plug it in.

  • i would put some speakers on to play the recording of a real engine

  • @ChristianPhalange The Tank is for storage of the 10 foot extension cord thats underneath one of the gas caps. I'm able to plug it in wherever I go as long as there is an outlet within reach.

  • great well done, wish there were more people like you,

  • @tzutzescu Haha, an endless recording of "Potato Potato Potato" running in the background.

  • @ElectricBobber I would like to own it but am saving my chips for a Heritage Softail!

  • @tagger956 I'm afraid not. But there is an option to recharge the batteries during braking where the motor is, for a short period, changed into a generator. I did not go with that option as the braking time would not have been long enough to do much of any good.

  • Man I was thinking "all u need is some baseball cards in the spokes. Well done. I know how much work it is to do something like this. I really like the extension cord idea. Very nice. 5*s on your build.

  • @ElectricBobber thanks for anwsering my friend.greetings from greece.

  • this is pretty cool now all you gotta do is put some baseball cards in the spokes so it makes a harley sound lol

  • @tzutzescu how would you like it if all the cars in your neighborhood were replaced with loud motorcycles 24/7?
