Wrong again- 747's take-off on 30L/10R in the winter; and 4/22 in the summer. It has to do with density altitude. It needs the extra 1000 feet in the summer due to the warmer temperatures. They usually land on 30L/10R in all seasons becuase it needs a lot less room to land than takeoff. I've even seen it land on 35 on rare occasion.
Granted, an unusually strong wind might change this typical pattern, but such days are very rare.
but I mean, I dont control at MSP, I have a neighbor in the TRACON, so she can't really say much about runway selection, but I talked to a guy named Chris who said that most of the time the 747s go off 4/22
but, nothing to take personally or get mad it, its a bloody runway at an airport, as long as they get off before they are on the numbers at the other side, then everyone should be happy...
Everyday i go to KMSP to watch planes (atleast twice a week) i see a 747 go out. About 3/4s of the time it takes off from runway 30L/12R with the rest of the traffic. Only on days that a crosswind is present or certain weather conditions exist will the 747 use runway 4/22
@sashman3988 They're just parked along a street.

The thing i like about the a380 is that it has a fast takeoff power and it doesnt use all of the runway
