Putting a Shinkansen like the 500 or N700 series on this existing track still would not work since its wider then the german Desiro model by 520mm. They would need to tear off quite a bit chunk of the platform of all the 5 stations on this line for it to pass through.
I hope Malaysia will consider expanding this line all d way to JB since this rail track is the only electrified 'standard gauge line'. u need it for a shinkansen (i like japanese bullet train) to go up to 300km/h. Its nice dat they r expandin ktm commuter network all de way north to ipoh n all d way south to gemas in johor, but they all run on narrow gauge railtrack n i doubt they can upgrade their train sets to go above 200km/h since its 'Narrow gauge'!! Frustrating to know this fact. >(
There was supposed to be plans to build a high-speed line linking Singapore and Kuala Lumpur in a non-stop route, but nothing's happened. I doubt there'll be any high-speed lines in Malaysia other than KLIA for some time.
