@buckandotis Whilst I agree that t.v is going downhill, I think its important not to mix comedy with the bad stuff. To be perfectly honest, I've always been annoyed as to how comedy is never taken as seriously, just because the nature of it is to make you laugh. I think in many ways it is a lot harder to tell a good joke that will make a lot of people laugh then to tell a sad story that will make a lot of people cry. And us brits can, but we don't call it a mall, we call it a shopping centre.

@Cctv106 ....i don't know if brits can relate to the "stoners that hang around outside of convenience stores all day ".....or "the mall"....or spend the late teens/early twenties living in moms basement getting wasted,and playing xbox games

@Cctv106 .... mall rats,dogma,silent bob etc kind of tell you who his target audience is.....if you got u.s. tv over there you would get it immediately ..i have chasing amy,on dvd and though some off it shows some real promise,a lot of it pales... the comic con subplot kind of speaks to a tv/video game/stoner/slacker element that are easily amused,and not particularly discriminating....scripted tv has almost died here,replaced with "reality" crap that is cheap to produce..

@buckandotis Thanks, I sincerlly will. I loved No country for old men, one of the best films out there. I agree that in alot of his movies, Kevin hasnt applied himself fully. Take Jay and Silent Bob strike back. Its badly written, but purposely so I think. I don't know whether you have watched, but chasing amy, though still riddled in his humour, is a very good film. And btw I live in england, so I don't know if you live in america but maybe he is hitting a different demographic over here

ut@Cctv106 you and those you know may be the exception,i don't know,but hopefully you will be exposed to some really good films/media etc......you seem like to have the mindset to appreciate the difference....don't get me wrong,i think smith has talent,but i'm not sure that he has mined it yet....he seems content with the success he's had,and that is just a shame....check out something like in cold blood,by richard brooks or some of kubric's or polanski's better work....

@buckandotis Fair point, I can see why you would think that. But thats not the same demographic. I live in the younger generation, and yes, some people just use music and t.v as background music. But I can tell you, from personal experience, the (few) people I know that also like Kevin Smith are the kind of people who are really into films, music and t.v. They are in it for the quality. Again, your entitled to your own opinion on whether Kevin Smith is good.
